Board of Medicine and Medical Review Subcommittee Openings

The Board of Medicine ("Board") is still looking ti fill two openings on the Board and one opening on the Medical Review Subcommittee ("MRSC") to the Board. The term on the Board lasts five years and a term on the MRSC lasts three years. Members of both the Board and the MRSC can serve two terms. Public members are extremely important to both the Board and the MRSC. As listed below, a public member shall be a person who is not, and never was, a member of the medical profession or the spouse of any such person, and who does not have, and never has had, a material financial interest in either the provision of medical services or an activity directly related to medicine, including the representation of the board or profession for a fee at any time during the five years preceding appointment.

2018 NH Physician Licensure Survey Now Open

Pursuant to RSA 329:9-f, the NH Division of Public Health Services, in collaboration with the NH Board of Medicine and Medical Society, is collecting key practice and capacity data from all licensed physicians in the state during the license renewal cycle. The survey is designed to collect general information regarding your current provider status and the locations at which you routinely practice medicine. The survey is now available to complete and will close on the date renewal application packets are due to the Board of Medicine (6/30). Only physicians due to renew their NH medical license in 2018 will have access to the survey. 

Anthem Agrees to Fully Rescind Modifier 25 Cuts

In December, the New Hampshire Medical Society alerted its member physicians that Anthem had adjusted its proposed policy to reduce payments for evaluation and management (E&M) codes appropriately reported with a Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) modifier 25 by 25% instead of 50%, as originally planned. 

Are You a Pre-Trial Panel Volunteer?

Over 600 NH licensed physicians have signed up to be volunteers for pre-trial panels for medical liability cases.  But, that’s not enough!  The NH Superior Court system needs a larger volunteer pool in order to avoid conflicts in cases involving a physician from a particular area or health system in the state.    Most panels meet for one day – a few may go into a 2nd day and the courts are giving panelists several months notice for the actual date of the panel.
