The New Hampshire Health Alert Network (NHHAN) is the primary means of providing rapid and current New Hampshire-specific medical information to practitioners and public health partners statewide.  The NHHAN is a 24/7/365 comprehensive system for information sharing, and it may provide public health emergency risk communication necessary to enable recipients to respond to events that may have an urgent public health impact.  NHHAN is also used to promote situational awareness of evolving events or potential public health threats.

Medicare Change and How It Affects You! - New and Revised information!

Beginning October 25, 2013 at 5:00 pm, the Medicare Part B workload will be transitioned from NHIC Corp. Medicare to the new National Government Services Jurisdiction K (JK) A/B MAC. What does this mean for you? It means that you should contact your EDI vendor and it is recommended that you Early Board to avoid any delay during the transition.

N.H. Managed Care Medicaid Moves Forward

The development of the N.H. Medicaid managed care program or Medicaid Care Management ("MCM") is well underway as the provider networks begin to take shape.  On Monday, August 19, 2013, the N.H. Department of Health and Human Services announced a new provider communication strategy to keep N.H.'s provider community apprised of important aspects, milestones and contacts for the new MCM.

The go-live date for the MCM is December 1, 2013, the date individuals will be enrolled and accessing care under the new system.

N.H. Medical Society Releases 2013 Physician Opinion Survey

CONCORD – Today, P. Travis Harker, MD, MPH, president of the New Hampshire Medical Society and a family physician in Concord, released the results of a comprehensive survey of physicians that was commissioned by the Medical Society in conjunction with the UNH Survey Center.   

Coming Together to Prevent Suicides in N.H.

The N.H. Suicide Prevention Council recently teamed up with medical, law enforcement, military, corrections and school personnel in hopes of raising awareness about suicide, including: the resources available in New Hampshire, educating the community on warning signs of those who may be at risk, and highlighting current initiatives in prevention, such as the State Police Peer-to-Peer program.

Maine EVP Testifies in Concord

At the request of NHMS President Dr. Travis Harker, Attorney Gordon Smith, EVP from the Maine Medical Association, testified on September 10, before NH’s Medicaid Expansion Commission. Attorney Smith outlined the reasons that a certain level of Medicaid expansion has worked in Maine for over a decade and his own state’s struggle to accept the ACA current expansion. The Maine Medical Association, the health care community, and their state legislature support the ACA expansion, but their legislation was not enacted after a veto override failed by just two votes.
