Executive Vice President
The New Hampshire Medical Society seeks an Executive Vice President with insightful and progressive talents to lead its mission to bring together physicians to advocate for the well-being of our patients, for our profession and for the betterment of the public health. Start date is July 1, 2010.
THE ROLE
- Works closely with the Executive Council and Executive Committee.
- Facilitates the NHMS’ strategic planning process.
- Develops an effective, member-focused communication program using traditional and advanced communication techniques.
- Develops and supervises an effective program for membership and membership services.
- Is active in local, state, regional and national organizations to maintain relevancy with regard to other healthcare stakeholders.
- Monitors legislative and government activities (state and federal) to help the NHMS respond appropriately.
- Manages the NHMS’ staff operations: effective organizational structure, policies and procedures, and an appropriate human resources program.
- Maintains the legal and fiduciary integrity, as well as regulatory compliance, of the NHMS.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree is required; an advanced degree in management or health care administration is strongly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of direct experience in government, regulatory, and health policy fields is preferred, as is at least two years serving in a senior-level role at a health care organization. We are looking for a strong background in public affairs and legislative affairs. A proven, measureable track record of implementing change in an innovative way in the health care arena is desired.
- Skills:
- A facilitative management style characterized by strong listening skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
- An understanding of the complexities of modern medicine and the critical issues facing physicians.
- An ability to gain consensus in working with key constituents on health care issues.
- Advanced technological skills to facilitate administration and communication.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication and public speaking skills.
- A working knowledge of statutory, administrative, and regulatory processes.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
