Re: CME Reporting

It is almost time to report your 2016-2017 Continuing Medical Education.

As a condition of relicensure, ALL physicians must report biennially the type and amount of Continuing Medical Education credits obtained within the two calendar-year cycle.

The two-year credit hour requirement is 100 hours, with a minimum of 40 hours in Category 1 and a maximum of 60 hours in Category 2. NEW THIS CYCLE: Physicians with a NH-DEA license must include documentation of 3 credits of Board-approved CME regarding opioid prescribing, pursuant to RSA: 318-B:40, as part of the 100 credits. Find the Board-approved list of courses at http://www.oplc.nh.gov/medicine/opioid-prescribing.htm.

Official transcripts are preferred over individual certificates, when available. Your national specialty society may offer this service. Some alternatives to traditional CME credits are accepted, such as documentation of residency, fellowship and board certification. Please reference http://www.nhms.org/cme-reporting for more details.

In December, you will receive a CME reporting form that will be due back to NHMS no later than February 28, 2018. Your CME report must include:

  • 100 CME hours earned between Jan. 1, 2016 and Dec. 31, 2017
  • Official certificates or transcripts documenting Category 1 hours earned
  • Documentation of 3 credits of Board-approved CME regarding opioid prescribing (if you hold a NH-DEA license)
  • The signed CME biennial reporting form
  •  $40 processing fee payable to “CME Coordinator”

Your prompt attention in completing your CME requirement will aid in a timely renewal of your license.  To avoid unnecessary mailings, if you do not wish to maintain your medical license, please advise this office.
