N.H. Health Alert Network Needs You!

The New Hampshire Health Alert Network (NHHAN) is the primary means of providing rapid and current New Hampshire-specific medical information to practitioners and public health partners statewide.  The NHHAN is a 24/7/365 comprehensive system for information sharing, and it may provide public health emergency risk communication necessary to enable recipients to respond to events that may have an urgent public health impact.  NHHAN is also used to promote situational awareness of evolving events or potential public health threats.

Military Culture Awareness Training

In an effort to enhance the military cultural competency of NH clinical service providers, NH DHHS has set aside $100,000 for reimbursement to CMHCs, hospitals, and private mental health practitioners to offset lost billable time incurred by staff who participate in approved military culture awareness webinar training. Medicare 2014 Fees

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) wants to ensure that the 2014 fee schedules for Medicare Part B are known to all physicians.

Offices looking for assistance can search for fee schedules by state and type of service at www.ngsmedicare.com. Search tools are available by individual code or entire file, but many find the individual code search easier to navigate.

Current legislation expires on March 31, 2014,  so another update will be forthcoming.

The Medicaid Enhancement Tax paid by N.H. hospitals is the subject of two superior court decisions and two pieces of legislation. The Senate-proposed amendment to HB 1613 would not expand the MET to other provider classes and would reduce the tax rate over three years as more Granite Staters become insured. The House proposed amendment to SB 369 has two sections.

Medicaid Care Management Program

The N.H. Department of Health and Human Services Medicaid Care Management (MCM) Program took effect December 1, 2013. This completes the transition from the current fee-for-service model to a managed care model. The program start date of December 1, is the first day that Medicaid recipients enrolled with one of the three Health Plans will be covered under their respective Health Plans.
