Victim of IRS Tax Scam?

If you are a victim of IRS tax fraud  -- someone else filed your taxes fraudulently -- you need to re-file your taxes on paper and include an Identity Theft tax form 14039.

UPDATE: IRS/SS # Scam

The IRS/SS # scam, which hit last spring has impacted over 210 N.H. providers.

NHMS is maintaining ongoing communication with the Secret Service, which is actively working this case.

Over the past several weeks the Secret Service has reached out to NHMS and asked us to randomly sample the victims of this scam.

They have asked for confirmation of certain activities (unrelated to the practice of medicine) such as relationships with financial advisors, employment management firms, auto financing, home financing, etc.

SGR Repeal Passed!

FINALLY!  US Senate passed H.R. 2, “Medicare Access and Chip Reauthorization Act,” 92-8.Both Senators Ayotte and Shaheen voted in favor of passage.  Please send them a quick “Thank You” email. The Senate-passed bill was identical to the version that passed the House of Representatives by an overwhelming 392-37 margin on March 26.President Obama is expected to sign H.R.

Secret Service Making Progress in its Social Security Number/IRS Fraud Investigation

On May 21, 2014, N.H. Medical Society Executive Vice President Scott Colby met with the local U.S. Secret Service special agent working the case of IRS fraud that appears to involve a disproportionate number of healthcare providers.  Providers affected thus far include physicians, physician assistants, APRNs, dentists, podiatrists and pharmacists.   

Scabies Screenings at DHMC-Lebanon

N.H. DHHS has released a health alert regarding the identification of a patient with crusted (Norwegian) scabies at DHMC-Lebanon. 

DHMC screening clinics and treatment will be available at Auditorium C-D on:
Friday, Oct. 3 from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 4 from 7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

The N.H. DPHS Public Inquiry Line (603.271.9461) will also be open:

Oct. 3-5 from 8:00 a.m-8:00 p.m. and Oct. 6 from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Registration for NH PDMP Required

Under Section 318:B33 of the Controlled Drug Prescription Health and Safety Program (NH PDMP), all prescribers and dispensers authorized to prescribe or dispense schedule II-IV controlled substances within the state shall be required to register with the program. Only registered prescribers and dispensers (and their delegates) shall be eligible to access the program.

If you have a NH license and a DEA registration (from any state) you are required to register with the NH Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). 
