Member Experience Manager

Position Summary

The successful candidate needs to be driven, outgoing, engaging, forward-thinking, and attentive to both details and larger strategy. This position will benefit from an individual who works collaboratively with staff colleagues and who is positive when dealing with New Hampshire Medical Society (NHMS) members, their employment organizations, and the public.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the NHMS membership development and recruitment program, while effectively promoting the development of new levels of connection and retention activities. This individual will take the lead in developing, refining and maintaining the NHMS database, managing event planning, and providing support on programs that enhance the physician and PA member’s experience to support the Medical Society’s mission and demonstrate value to its members. 

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Maintain the NHMS membership database, including running periodic and ad hoc reports.
  2. Initiate all dues billings for NHMS members, initiate solicitations for newly licensed NH physicians, and work with medical practices, hospitals and health systems to facilitate group invoicing for membership.
  3. Develop ongoing initiatives for membership growth and retention.
  4. Implement new marketing strategies in digital and print form which communicate the NHMS brand and program offerings to members and potential members.
  5. Manage event planning for the NHMS annual conference, golf tournament and other meetings as assigned, including overseeing the registration process and pre-conference preparations (e.g., badges, ribbons, registration lists, continuing medical education applications, etc.), as well as coordinating the on-site registration and event activities, and participating in all pre- and post-conference meetings.
  6. Writing of press releases and article editing abilities.
  7. Work with assigned state specialty societies with duties, such as communications and event management.

  • New Hampshire specialty society members and leaders
  • NHMS staff members, contracted consultants and vendors
  • Representatives and staff from other organizations

 

Education, Experience, Skills and Knowledge Qualifications

Knowledge typically acquired through:

  • A bachelor’s degree preferred (or related experience), in business, marketing, liberal arts or a related field.
  • Two or more years of related professional experience preferably on the staff of an association or non-profit organization.

Scope and depth of technical skills/knowledge:

  • A passion for developing strong business relationships and the ability to strategically build on interactions with members
  • Event planning and organization
  • Familiarity with social media marketing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to master customer relations management database software
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and complete work under pressure and time constraints
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to coordinate meeting and event planning logistics
  • Identifying trends and opportunities important to our members and the communication
  • Excellent writing, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as within a team
  • A personal commitment to member service is expected

Freedom to Act

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the incumbent performs the work of the position with broad policy direction from the Executive Vice President (EVP) and has responsibility and authority to complete such policy. The incumbent has freedom to propose innovative and creative projects and implement and direct work plans to achieve policy and operational goals.  Further, latitude is given to determine the approaches, procedures and methodologies for accomplishing work.

The incumbent is guided by NHMS policies and priorities established by the NHMS Council and EVP, and in consultation with the other staff members as needed.  The incumbent’s work is reviewed to see that the desired results area achieved within the desired organizational characteristics.

Travel

Travel will be required and may include weekend travel as determined by the Director of Marketing and EVP.  Some night meetings and other after-hours meetings will be required.
