Free BinaxNOW COVID-19 Test Kits Available

NH primary care physicians may now request BinaxNOW COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test supplies without costs from the NH Department of Health and Human Services at the BinaxNow COVID-19 Test Kit Supply Request site.

The BinaxNOW COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test is authorized under a FDA emergency use authorization (EUA) for testing persons with symptoms of COVID-19.  The test requires no additional machine or supplies other than personal protective equipment.  Each box comes with 40 tests, each with a nasal swab for the anterior nares, and one dropper bottle of reagent per box.

All test results are required to be reported to the NH Division of Public Health Services as described in NH-DHHS Health Alert Network COVID Update #22.

The State of New Hampshire has created a secure web-based reporting portal for point of care COVID-19 tests.

Additional information and training materials can be found on Abbott’s website for the  BinaxNow COVID-19 Ag Card and NAVICA™ app.

Providers using these COVID-19 tests that are provided by DHHS at no cost cannot bill patients or Medicaid for the test itself.  However, providers may charge for any office visits for their symptomatic patients or charge a specimen collection fee, such as the Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System (HCPCS) code G2023.
