NH DPHS Health AlertsOn August 18, 2017, NH DHHS issued a health alert regarding a human case of Jamestown Canyon Virus (JVC) in New Hampshire.

Key Points and Recommendations:

  1. New Hampshire’s first human infection with Jamestown Canyon Virus (JCV) in 2017 has been identified. JCV is an uncommon arboviral infection that is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito.

West Nile Virus Identified in Mosquito Batches in Manchester, NH

NH DPHS logoOn August 8, 2017, NH DHHS issued a health alert regarding the identification of West Nile Virus in mosquito batches in Manchester, NH. 

Key Points and Recommendations:

  1. The first detections of West Nile Virus (WNV) in New Hampshire for 2017 have occurred in two mosquito batches from Manchester, NH.
  2. Healthcare providers should consider mosquito-borne diseases, including WNV and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), in patients presenting with compatible clinical syndromes regardless of the presence or absence of positive mosquito or veterinary testing in their community.

NHID Cancelling Public Hearings Scheduled for This Week

The New Hampshire Insurance Department (NHID) is cancelling the public hearings scheduled for August 2nd and August 3rd relative to its market stabilization plan and proposed 1332 waiver application.  

Consistent with today’s vote of the Joint Health Reform Oversight Committee, the NHID will continue to explore options for the 1332 waiver, and will reschedule the hearings once there is more clarity about the specifics of the state’s approach.
