Cathy Stratton, CAE Joins New Hampshire Medical Society as CEO

Concord, NH - The New Hampshire Medical Society announces that Cathy Stratton, CAE, joined the New Hampshire Medical Society as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on August 21, 2024.

“We are excited to welcome Cathy to the New Hampshire Medical Society team. She has extensive experience working with physicians and a strong commitment to building communities and amplifying the voices and values of members,” said Maria Boylan, DO, president of the New Hampshire Medical Society.

“We conducted an extensive nationwide search and, after a rigorous interview process, the Board believes that Cathy’s unique background and leadership skills will help the Society and members continue our longstanding mission of physician and public health advocacy,” said Travis Harker, MD Chair of the hiring committee.

Established in 1791, the New Hampshire Medical Society is one of the nation’s first state physician associations. The Society and its 1900 physician members are committed to advocating for the betterment of public health in the Granite State. Advocacy efforts focus on ways that physicians and the medical profession impact health related policy and improve patient and physician health.

“The physician voice is critical in helping to shape the future of medicine,” said NHMS President Maria Boylan, DO, “and the Medical Society Board and Council are eager to work with Cathy and the NHMS staff to advance our advocacy agenda and connect with members.”

Cathy brings with her more than 15 years of work with physicians and association management. She most recently served at the Maine Medical Association (MMA) in executive director roles with the American Society of Medical Association Counsel (ASMAC) and the Maine Chapter – American College of Emergency Physicians (ME-ACEP).  “Cathy has been a valued member of the Maine Medical Association staff, and we are deeply grateful for her teamwork and contributions during her tenure at MMA,” said Paul Cain, MD, President of the Maine Medical Association. “She is an accomplished professional and we wish her all the best in this exciting new chapter of her career.”

Cathy holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation, the highest level of recognition in the field of professional association management. She is also a graduate of the Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership Health Leadership Development (HLD) Program and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bates College.
